A look back at the 1991 NBA Dunk Contest

With All-Star weekend just days away the guys at Sports Q&A decided to go in the vault and pull out a couple of the most competitive, and in this case, controversial dunk contest. The year was 1991, the game was in Charlotte North Carolina and the favorite was ‘The Reignman” aka Shawn Kemp he had been known for his thunderous in game dunks, but he did have competition from Kenny “The Jet” Smith, Rex Chapman (bring back the buzz) and rookie Dee Brown who eventually won with what many call a lackluster “no look” dunk that many still say didn’t have too much no look to it, considering he used the inside of his arm to cover his eyes… The best thing to come of that dunk contest was the release of the Reebok Pumps worn by brown which were re-released in limited quantities recently.
